June 5, 2021, is World Environment Day. The theme this year is “Ecosystem Restoration.” This restoration can take many forms: growing trees, greening cities, rewilding gardens, cleaning up rivers and coasts.
Little Portion Farm in Ellicott City, Maryland, follows Pope Francis’ call to “hear both the cry of the earth and the cry of the poor,” by caring for their “little portion” of creation, and giving their harvest to those in need.
Enjoy these photos from Little Portion Farm’s recent community event: planting and blessing their new wildflower garden.
People of all ages came out on a beautiful day to scatter seeds and participate in a short prayer service. These wildflower areas are not only beautiful, but will attract beneficial insects and pollinators to support the farm’s ecosystem.
