Our Postulants had a full schedule this Spring.
They visited the Novices in California during Holy Week and Easter.
Postulant comes from the Latin postulare which means one who makes a request. Novice comes from the Latin word novicius which means a person entered into a new condition.
In May, they made a pilgrimage to the National Shrine of Our Lady of Champion in Wisconsin. They also enjoyed an outing to a White Sox game.
Every week the postulants volunteer at various locations, including the Little Sisters of the Poor nursing homes in Chicago and Palatine, IL, St. Stanislaus soup kitchen, and St. Thomas of Canterbury’s food pantry. On May 16, the Postulancy hosted an appreciation night to say thank you to these groups for allowing the postulants to serve with them.
In July, the next step in formation begins. The Novitiate ‘Year and a Day’ takes place in Arroyo Grande, California. The postulants were measured for the Franciscan habit in February.
