From March 31st to April 1st 2022, Friar Carlos A. Trovarelli, Minister General, visited the Convent of St. Francis of Assisi in Lviv, Ukraine. Also present were the Guardian of the Bilshivtsi Convent, Friar Michał Staszak, as well as with the Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Lviv, Msgr. Edward Kawa OFM Conv. After preaching at a Mass at the Shrine of St. Anthony in Lviv, on April 1st, the Feast of Our Lady of Grace, Friar Carlos met the Franciscan Youth and the faithful who were present.
He encouraged the Friars and assembly to re-entrust themselves and Ukraine to the maternal protection of the Blessed Mother, and to do all that Jesus tells us. He stressed that this entrustment to God is necessary to adequately recognize the signs of the times and to respond to the needs of the community served by the friars. At the end of the visit, the Provincial Custos thanked the Order for the financial help and material support offered to the Custody since the beginning of the Russian-Ukrainian war.
