In April, Friar Michael Lasky, the General Delegate for Justice, Peace and Integrity of Creation (JPIC) visited the Novitiate in Arroyo Grande, California. While there, he taught a class about the development of Catholic Social teaching with the context of Franciscanism, as a foundational spirituality for Catholic social justice initiatives.
Next, Friar Michael visited with the postulants in Chicago, Illinois. Eight Capuchin Franciscan postulants and their directors from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, joined the six Conventual Franciscan postulants and their directors for a JPIC program entitled: Reimagining JPIC for Franciscans Today.

Friar Michael led the group through a reflection of JPIC in relation to Franciscan ethics, character, and prayer. There was also a lesson about reconciliation through the lens of the Canticle of the Creatures. [This year we celebrate the 800th anniversary of this composition by St. Francis. Let us pray that men and women religious, and seminarians, grow in their own vocational journey through human, pastoral, spiritual and community formation, that leads them to be credible witnesses of the Gospel.
