On April 11, Friar James McCurry received the 2026 Pro Fidelitate et Virtute Award from the Institute for Religious Life. The award honors individuals who show outstanding dedication to defending and promoting authentic Catholic religious life. Previous recipients include St. Mother Teresa, Cardinal Francis Arinze, Cardinal John Carberry, and Cardinal Albert Meyer.
Friar James was recognized for his work in promoting religious life around the globe – lecturing, conducting retreats and spiritual days, and preaching in all fifty states in the U.S. and more than sixty countries around the world. His Mariology series on EWTN was syndicated for several years. He is also the author of the book Maximilian Kolbe: Martyr of Charity.
