The San Damiano Friary in San Antonio, Texas, is a house of formation for many of our student friars. On April 23, 2022, a new expansion providing twelve more bedrooms as well as additional space for work, studies, and recreation was celebrated.
San Damiano friary is a place where student friars from around the world can live together, growing in their commitment to Conventual Franciscan life while completing the studies that will lead to priesthood or other ministries.
At various times, friars from across the United States, Mexico, South Korea, Haiti, the Bahamas, Vietnam, Cameroon, and many other countries have lived together in fraternity.
“The Church in the United States has become more intercultural, more representative of the reality of our global human family. This new addition to the Franciscan formation fraternity allows us to share more fully in this new reality.”
Friar Wayne Hellmann OFM Conv.
