Novena to Our Lady of Consolation

Novena to Our Lady of Consolation

The Annual Novena to Our Lady of Consolation begins on August 6th at the Basilica and National Shrine of Our Lady of Consolation in Carey, Ohio. Each year, pilgrims gather in Carey to celebrate, listen, and pray together.

This year, there is the additional celebration of the 150th anniversary of the arrival of the statue of Our Lady and the 2025 Jubilee Pilgrims of Hope. The Most Reverend Daniel E. Thomas, Bishop of Toledo, has designated the Basilica and Shrine of Our Lady of Consolation as a pilgrimage location for the possibility of obtaining a plenary indulgence.

+Br. Jeffrey Hines considered his time spent ministering at the Shrine a highlight of his life. For more than 30 years, Brother Jeffrey welcomed thousands of pilgrims to Our Lady of Consolation. Many were seeking healing from physical, mental, or spiritual pain and problems. Friar Jeffrey listened to their stories and prayed with them. In the  podcast episode below, he shares some of his memories with Br. Randy Kin.

(+Br. Jeffrey passed away in 2020 in Bloomington, Minnesota. In addition to his service at OLC Shrine, Br. Jeffrey also served as a guide in Assisi, Italy; Director of Franciscan Retreats and Spirituality Center in Prior Lake, Minnesota; Secretary for the Province of Our Lady of Consolation; and in the education and formation of student Friars.)
