This weekend five men will be invested in the Franciscan habit. The simple tunic, shoulder cape, hood, and rope around the waist, reflects what peasants wore at the time of St. Francis. The word habit comes from the Latin word habitus meaning to put on a way of life. This marks entry into the second stage of formation – the Novitiate.
Novitiate is an intense, retreat-style, deep-dive into Franciscan vocation.
What do the incoming Novices think about their discernment journey to date? Check out these video reflections where they answer questions such as:
‘Have there been any doubts or struggles in your discernment?’
‘What are your expectations for the next stage of formation?’
‘If you could give advice to someone just beginning this formation process, what would it be?’
& more…
