Josephine Bakhita was born in the Sudan around 1869. Kidnapped by Arab slave traders when
Conventuals speak in the name of something greater than ourselves. We are not a collection of individual voices, but a chorus harmonizing for the advancement of the Kingdom. Francis understood the men who came to follow him as a gift from the Lord; he received and celebrated that gift! The friars’ life in fraternity is the heart of our charism and exists as our primary mission. Community life, in the Franciscan vision, is an end in and of itself.
