As we approach the end of 2024, here’s a flashback to Summer!
Approximately 170 teens and young adults attended the Second Annual Assisi on the Chesapeake youth retreat. The young people came from various ministry sites throughout the Province of Our Lady of the Angels. The weekend included moments of prayer, Franciscan and vocational discussions, fun activities, and many opportunities to make new friends, eat great food, and make lasting memories.
Twenty friars worked together to share our Franciscan charism with everyone and ensure a fulfilling retreat for all. The theme of the retreat was “Living the Gospel Life” where the campers had talks about the vows of Poverty, Chastity and Obedience as a way to live the Gospel. There were various activities throughout the weekend such as rock climbing, tubbing, ziplining, and kayaking. The campers also spent time learning about the Franciscan way of life and had time for adoration and confession.
