A Reminder to Care for All Creation

Holy Cross Retreat Center in Mesilla Park, New Mexico, will be sharing a new mural at this year’s Franciscan Festival of Fine Arts. The annual Festival takes place over Labor Day weekend and features more than 80 vendors, including artists who work in a variety of mediums such as painting, ceramics, jewelry, photography, woodworking, and more. Alongside the artists, there will be live music on two stages, food vendors, an enchilada dinner, raffle, silent auction, and a beer and wine garden.

The new mural on the wall by the entrance is being completed by artist Linda Hagan. The mural depicts St. Francis of Assisi in a southwestern setting. The background, animals, and birds are native to the area and remind us to care for all creation.

The Festival begins on Saturday, September 3, from 9am to 5pm. On Sunday, September 4, Mass will be at 9am with the Festival resuming from 10am to 4pm, ending with the drawing for the raffle.
