The mural on the exterior walls of the Pump House Studio at the Mount Saint Francis Retreat Center in Mt. St. Francis, Indiana, was created to honor the launching of the Laudato Sí Action Platform by the Vatican. This platform is to help Catholic institutions (parishes, schools, hospitals, etc.), families, and individuals address climate change in real day-to-day ways.
The mural includes animal and plant species that are either endangered or nearing extinction – including human beings. The project was a collaboration between Chris Chappell, who is a well- known muralist in the Louisville area, and Friar Vince Petersen who developed the overall design.
